Classic Hollywood glamour is timeless Venexiana’s Fall 2011 Collection was a tribute to the vibrancy, vanity and vitality of high fashion in the 30s, 40s and 50s. Although Designer Kati Stern has created a legacy of rock-n-roll haute couture this new collection is perfect for a night at the opera, a quintessential black tie ball, or an elegant, expensive evening anywhere in the world.
Ms. Stern’s creations provided high pleasure with deep jewel tones and she made magic with metallic fabrics crafted into delicate design statements. Photographer Ricardo Andre captured the movement, the craft and the pure essence of Venexiana, in spite of the fact that the models were too skinny to fill the unique necklines. These gowns needed to be filled with the feminine grace and voluptuousness of the Rosalind Russell’s and Marilyn Monroe’s who ruled the big screen in their heyday.
Her show on Friday night February 11 was the finale of the second day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The audience at the standing room only show was clearly captivated from the first moment the runway show began. Ms. Stern’s skills not only as a designer but as a professional architect and passionate flamenco dancer were obvious in the intricate structure of the clothes abundant with ruching and draping to flatter almost any feminine figure.
